“In antiquity, Heaven was worshipped at the Circular Mound and Earth at the Square Altar. The Circular Mound, located in the southern suburbs, was built as a raised, round platform to symbolize Heaven.”

This design is based on the Temple of Heaven in the Forbidden City.

The Temple of Heaven was originally constructed in the 18th year of the Yongle reign (1420) of the Ming Dynasty, modeled after ceremonial structures in Nanjing. It was built as a site for emperors to conduct joint offerings to Heaven and Earth, with the Grand Sacrificial Hall serving as the location for key rituals.
